Successful Opening of The Sensory Hub by the Archbishop of York

We’ve had a wonderful morning at the Trust, welcoming the charming and personable Most Reverend John Sentamu, the Archbishop of York. He spent time this morning speaking with the many people who have benefited from the services offered here, the work with people who have a visual impairment, hearing loss, and / or dual sensory loss or other disabilities.

He was gracious in the time he took to meet people and talk with them and when he opened the Sensory Hub officially, he spoke about the importance of volunteers, the important role they play in society and to encourage volunteers to tell others about the rewarding nature of that role to encourage others to do the same. It was a very powerful message about helping others and that this is so very rewarding in itself.

Please see some of the photos from this event and thank you to all who attended. We also live-streamed the event via our Facebook account so you may have seen us there too.

  1. Thank you to everyone involved in todays event, but also for all the hard work each and every day from the staff and volunteers. It was fantastic to see so many of our people who visit us and access the hub services and other areas of The Wilberorce Trust, YORSENSORY and YORSIGHT. My thanks one and all. Philippa (CEO)
